The roles of the social worker as a general practitioner in alleviating cyber bullying among university youth

Abstract: The research aimed to identify the forms of cyber bullying among university youth, identify the activities and programs provided to university youth to mitigate the severity of cyber bullying, identify the roles of the social worker as a general practitioner to mitigate the severity of cyber bullying, identify the obstacles facing the social worker as a general practitioner in mitigating the severity of cyber bullying, and come up with the necessary proposals to overcome the obstacles that prevent the social worker as a general practitioner from performing his role in mitigating the severity of cyber bullying. The current research belongs to descriptive studies. The researcher used the comprehensive social survey method of social workers working in the Youth Care Department at the level of 10 faculties of Assiut University, numbering 50 social workers, and the comprehensive social survey of the student union at the level of these faculties as well, numbering 150 students. This was during the period from (5/1/2025) to (5/20/2025). The research results revealed that cyber bullying forms included cyber stalking, cyber stalking, cyber sexual harassment, and cyber stalking. The role of social workers as general practitioners in mitigating cyber bullying among university students was moderate, while the programs and activities provided to university students to mitigate cyber bullying were moderate. The obstacles hindering social workers from mitigating cyber bullying among university students were high, and the suggestions for overcoming obstacles hindering social workers from mitigating cyber bullying among university students were high.
