Abstract

This study is one of the semi-experimental studies examining the effect of an independent variable (the application of the second step program for children) on a dependent variable (the level of social and emotional skills in children). This is done by identifying the effectiveness of applying the second step program to teach and develop social-emotional skills for a sample of second-grade children (ages between 7 and 8 years). Where the study relies on the semi-experimental approach, which depends on the use of the experimental design specified in the pre-postexperiment using one group, where the pre-measurement of the group is done before conducting the experiment (application of the program), then the professional intervention with the group (and the application of the program on it), and then the post-measurement of the group is done. And then make comparisons and calculate the differences between the pre and post measurement. It concluded that there were no statistically significant differences at any level of significance between the mean scores of the students' families' responses in the pre-application, and their average scores in the post-application, where the significance levels for all (T) values were greater than (0.05), i.e. not statistically significant; This indicates that the program did not have the required effect on the study sample, as estimated by the students' families. There are no statistically significant differences at any level of significance between the mean scores of the students' teachers' responses in the pre-application and their average scores in the post-application, where the significance levels for all (Z) values were greater than (0.05), i.e. not statistically significant; This indicates that the program did not affect the required manner on the members of the study sample, as estimated by the female students' teachers.
