Abstract

The study aimed to identify the skills needed by the medical social worker in the use of therapeutic groups with cases of attempted suicide in adolescents, which include the skills of each of (directing the operations of therapeutic groups - collecting information and the assessment process - applied skills) to reach a proposed perception of the development of those skills, and the study followed the pattern of descriptive studies through the comprehensive social survey methodology, and by applying the questionnaire to social workers practicing in the medical field in the city of Makkah, and their number (100) Specialist The results of the study indicated that the levels of skills needed by the medical social worker in the use of therapeutic groups with cases of attempted suicide in adolescents, were as follows: the first order guidance skills with an arithmetic average (2.67), followed by the second order applied skills with an arithmetic average (2.53), and finally the collection of information and the estimation process with an arithmetic average (2.49), The most important recommendations emphasize the continuity of training and skills development related to profe intervention in cases of suicide.
