Relationship between the use of the Internet and increased social participation of youth

Abstract

The study aimed primarily and directly at studying the relationship between the Internet and the social participation of young people by: (recognition of the role of the Internet and the social participation of young people; identification of the impact of the Internet and the social participation of young people according to the gender variable; identification of the rate of youth use of the Internet; identification of the relationship between the Internet and the social participation of young people); and applied the study to young people, including 22 women, (69) men. The results of the study found that there were differences between males and females in the use of the Internet among young people "the sample of study," where the largest percentage of males was concentrated in favor of males (63.7%). The Facebook social network was also found to be the most widely used among young people in the study sample (96.7%). The great majority of the male youth sample was the one using Facebook more than (75.8%). The rate of use of social networking on the Internet among young people was also high daily, with a total of 90.1%. The great majority of the male youth sample was the one using social networking on a daily basis (74.7%). The rate of hours of use of social networking on the Internet among young people showed a statistical correlation between the use of the Internet and the increase in social participation of young people. The results also confirmed that the great majority of the male youth sample was the most used of those networks on a daily basis of 5 hours (67%). The results also showed that there was a statistical correlation between the use of the Internet and the increase in the social participation of young men.
