Abstract

The present study aims to identify the relationship between marital satisfaction and future anxiety and their levels and define the differences in marital satisfaction and future anxiety due to age and occupational status among the participants. Therefore, it adopted the correlational and comparative descriptive approach and applied the scale of marital satisfaction and the scale of future anxiety (developed by the author) to a sample of (100) remarried wives (for the second time). The results revealed a high level of future anxiety and a low level of marital satisfaction among remarried wives. There was a statistically significant negative correlation between future anxiety and marital satisfaction. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences among the participants in future anxiety due to age, favoring the (less than 25 years) group, and occupational status, favoring nonworking wives. There were statistically significant differences among the participants in marital satisfaction due to age, in favor of the (45 and older years) group, and occupational status, favoring working wives. The study recommends holding educational seminars to reduce future anxiety among wives, especially nonworking ones, and activating the role of family counseling centers to promote awareness of achieving marital satisfaction and its factors, especially among remarried wives.
