Field training as a mechanism for developing professional competencies among social work students

Abstract

            Field training represents the basic pillar for preparing human cadres with the correct preparation to provide them with the professional and technical skills necessary to perform their job duties. A set of skills and experiences must be available in the supervisor or trainer to provide them to the students and help them employ the scientific base in the field of field training and refine the professional personality of the trainees. Through field training, theoretical and practical knowledge is integrated among students, which helps them develop the required skills. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the reality of field training among social work students, determine the level of professional competencies among social work students, determine the relationship between field training and the development of professional competencies among social work students, determine the difficulties facing the contributions of field training in developing professional competencies among social work students, determine proposals to activate the contributions of field training in developing professional competencies among social work students, and reach proposed planning mechanisms to activate the contributions of field training in developing professional competencies among social work students. The study reached the following results: Accepting the main hypothesis of the study, which means, "There is a direct relationship statistically significant effect between field training and development of professional competencies among social work students.
