Abstract

The current study aimed to identify Requirements for The Development of Environmental Citizenship for Residents of Rural Areas, as well as to identify the obstacles facing the development of environmental citizenship among rural residents, and to identify proposals that contribute to the development of environmental citizenship among rural residents, and finally to reach proposed planning mechanisms for the development of environmental citizenship among rural residents. This study belongs to descriptive studies as it is one of the most appropriate types of studies for the subject of the current study, as it focuses on monitoring and analyzing the reality of the requirements that must be available to develop environmental citizenship among rural residents, reaching proposed planning mechanisms for the development of environmental citizenship among rural residents. The study relied on using the comprehensive social survey method for officials in the Abu Tig Center and City Council, Assiut Governorate, and its affiliated village councils, numbering (136) individuals. The study tools were represented in the questionnaire tool for officials about the requirements for developing environmental citizenship among rural residents. The results of the study found that the level of requirements for developing environmental citizenship is high. It also found that there is no statistically significant difference between the responses. Officials according to academic qualification in their determination of the level of requirements for developing citizenship. Finally, the study reached a set of proposed planning mechanisms for developing environmental citizenship among residents of rural areas, Rural.
