Awareness level of Down's syndrome among future mothers in Saudi society

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the level of awareness among future mothers in Saudi society of Down's syndrome in the (13) administrative regions by determining the level of both cultural awareness and medical awareness of Down's syndrome in a sample of future mothers of (411) future mother, as the study aims to identify the personal orientations of future mothers to reduce the spread of Down's syndrome, and was (72.7%) of the sample is less than 25 years old and the majority are unmarried (74%), demographic data also showed that the majority of them had no one in contact with their families, which is to be expected as the proportion of people with a conjugate Down is small as well as their number at the community level, and the study found that the level of public awareness among future mothers in Saudi society of Down's syndrome was averaging at the overall average (21.5) Degrees, at the dimensional level, the levels of awareness of future mothers of Down's syndrome varied, with the level of cultural awareness of Down's syndrome being high on average arithmetic (16.23) degrees, while the level of medical awareness of Down's syndrome was low by an average arithmetic (5.3) degrees..
