Abstract

In today's world, the alarming rates of divorce and family disintegration necessitate examining the underlying reasons behind this phenomenon, whether they are personal differences between spouses, life pressures, or values and concepts related to married life. In this context, this article attempts to demonstrate that marital conflict is a natural phenomenon arising from daily interactions and personal and cultural differences between partners. However, it emphasizes the importance of keeping such conflicts at levels that do not lead to family breakdown. After addressing the issue of family disintegration, which has become rampant in modern society, the article defines the phenomenon of marital conflict from a sociological perspective, shedding light on its definitions and types. It then analyses the factors leading to conflict between spouses, including economic, social, and emotional factors, in addition to the factor of role expectations. The article further explores the role of religion in confronting marital conflicts, asserting that religious teachings provide a theoretical and value-based framework for dealing with these conflicts constructively. Religion promotes values such as tolerance, patience, and mutual understanding, which contribute to strengthening the spiritual bond between spouses and enhancing their commitment to each other. In conclusion, the article emphasizes that understanding the phenomenon of marital conflict and its causes is fundamental to ensuring the sustainability of marriage. It stresses that adherence to religious teachings and moral values can reduce the intensity of conflicts and guide them toward constructive solutions, potentially contributing to achieving a satisfying marital life for both parties.
