Abstract

The study aimed to identify the social and psychological impacts of the Israeli war on Gaza (October 7) on students of Al-Quds Open University and its reflection on their motivation towards learning. The study followed a descriptive correlational methodology. Researchers designed a questionnaire to measure the social and psychological effects of war, as well as a questionnaire to measure the level of students' motivation toward learning, as tools for the study. These were applied to a sample of 595 male and female students from Al-Quds Open University in Palestine, selected through stratified random sampling. The study found that the level of social and psychological effects of the Israeli war on Gaza (October 7) among the students was moderate, and the level of motivation toward education among the students was also moderate. The results showed no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the assessment of the psychological and social impacts of the Israeli war on Gaza (October 7) among students attributed to the variables of gender, college, or academic level. Similarly, the results indicated no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the assessment of students' motivation toward learning. It was found that there is an inverse correlation between the social and psychological impacts of the Israeli war on Gaza (October 7) among the students of and their level of motivation towards learning. This means that the more the social and psychological impacts of the war increase, the less motivation towards learning was observed among the students
