Work pressures and their impact on the efficiency of the performance of workers in the Saudi health sector

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the impact of work stress on the efficiency of performance of administrative workers in the Saudi health sector, through an applied study in hospitals in the city of Riyadh. To achieve the aim of the study, the descriptive analytical method was used in preparing the study. The questionnaire was also used as a main tool in collecting data from the study sample. The study sample consisted of a random sample of (375) from administrators working in hospitals in the city of Riyadh. After collecting data from the study sample, the statistical package (SPSS) was used to analyze the data. Through data analysis, the study reached the following results: The results indicated that administrative workers in hospitals in Riyadh are exposed to work stress represented by (nature of work, nature of role, job security, physical environment, salary and incentives policy, leadership, organizational policies, and stress of social relations) to a high degree, with an arithmetic average of (3.56). The results indicated that the level of performance efficiency of administrative workers in hospitals in Riyadh was high in general, with an arithmetic average of (3.74). The study found a statistically significant effect between work stress and the performance efficiency of administrative workers in hospitals in the city of Riyadh. The results revealed that there were statistically significant differences in workers’ responses regarding the impact of work stress on the performance efficiency of administrative workers in hospitals in the city of Riyadh due to the variable (gender, age, marital status). In light of these results, the study recommended the necessity of reviewing salary policies, providing a periodic and clear incentive system for workers that ensures fair distribution and transparency. Improving the work environment by providing suitable work spaces, modernizing devices and equipment that help workers perform their tasks more efficiently. Providing training programs to develop social skills and effective communication between employees and managers.
