Abstract

This study aims to achieve several objectives, including: identifying the priorities of needs, problems, and services for the category of domestic workers from the perspective of both officials and domestic workers; defining and describing the role of the social worker in working with domestic workers from the perspective of the casework method as seen by officials and domestic workers; identifying the obstacles to the role of the social worker in working with domestic workers from both perspectives; proposing suggestions to enhance the role of the social worker with domestic workers; and attempting to formulate a conceptual framework based on the "Life Model" in casework to activate the role of the social worker with domestic workers. This study falls under the category of "comparative descriptive studies" and employs the social survey methodology. The researcher used the comprehensive enumeration method for employees, social workers, and domestic workers in NGOs. A questionnaire form utilized, targeting members of the board of directors and employees of NGOs, alongside a questionnaire directed at domestic workers visiting these NGOs. The field study conducted on three NGOs in Cairo Governorate. The research population included) 37(members and) 108(domestic workers. After applying the sampling criteria, the researcher was able to meet only) 28(members due to specific circumstances encountered during the field study. The study concluded that there are no statistically significant differences between the responses of the two samples (officials and domestic workers) regarding the study's dimensions: the role of the social worker, obstacles to this role, and suggestions to enhance the role of the social worker with domestic workers. The study recommends emphasizing the social worker's role with domestic workers by: Identifying the evolving needs of domestic workers, addressing their problems in light of societal and work-related circumstances, developing the services provided to domestic workers to help them cope with their challenges.
