Abstract

   The elderly have witnessed increasing interest from the Egyptian state, as the National Strategy for Human Rights in September 2021 included the rights of the elderly within the third axis under the title of strengthening the human rights of women, children, people with disabilities, youth and the elderly. In addition, the guarantees the rights of the elderly, health, social, economic, cultural and recreational, and provides an appropriate pension that guarantees them a decent life, through a dignity pension. The Egyptian state also pays real attention to providing comprehensive health care for the elderly, so it launched the Elderly Care Program, which provides a set of medical interventions at the physical and psychological levels to support the health and well-being of the elderly. This program also contributed greatly to reducing the spread of non-communicable diseases, which is what Egypt's Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals seek.
   Therefore, this research aimed to determine the reality of elderly care services in elderly care institutions in Assiut Governorate in light of the sustainable development goals, and to reach a proposed vision to activate elderly care services in light of the sustainable development goals from the perspective of general practice in social service. This study, according to its objectives, belongs to the descriptive studies pattern. The study relied on the scientific method using the social survey method with a sample, for the elderly who frequent the General Authotity for  health insurance, the Central Upper Egypt branch in Assiut Governorate, and their number is (148).
