Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the professional performance of social workers working in Child Protection Committees in handling cases of children at risk. The study is classified as an evaluative study and employed the comprehensive social survey method, which included all social workers in the Child Protection Committees in Assiut Governorate, totaling (18) social workers. In addition, a sample survey was conducted with (45) members of the working teams in the same committees. The study tool was a questionnaire specifically designed to assess the professional performance of social workers, from the perspective of both the social workers themselves and the working team members. The main findings revealed a high level of professional performance among social workers (from their own perspective), with the highest score recorded in the dimension of “Developing and Implementing the Intervention Plan” with a weighted mean of (2.76) and a standard deviation of (0.56). The lowest score was in the dimension of “Case Closure,” with a weighted mean of (2.59) and a standard deviation of (0.59). From the perspective of the working team, a similarly high level of professional performance was observed. The highest score was in “Case Closure” (weighted mean = 2.81, standard deviation = 0.43), while the lowest scores were in “Case Identification and Documentation” and “Developing and Implementing the Intervention Plan,” each with a weighted mean of (2.61) and standard deviations of (0.74) and (0.88) respectively.
