Family problems faced by poor families: A qualitative study of several low-income families

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the family problem faced by poor families. To achieve this: the study adopted the descriptive-analytical method and employed a case study approach, relying on both theoretical frameworks and field data. The sample consisted of (23) families residing in impoverished neighbourhoods suffer from several family issues, most notably family conflicts resulting from poverty. This include problem related to divorce, psychological and physical violence, Furthermore poor families tend to withdraw from social life, show less willingness to engage with others, and experience fragile social relationships. They also face difficulties and fear regarding the occurrence of problems, often resorting to extended family member or community figures when problems arise.
