Juvenile Delinquency in a Changing Society

Abstract

This study is a descriptive study using a social survey approach, using a comprehensive survey of all components of the study community. The study aimed to identify the reality of juvenile delinquency in Saudi society, as well as to identify the demographic and social characteristics of juvenile delinquents in Saudi society, identify the patterns of crimes committed by juvenile delinquents in Saudi society, identify the social factors leading to juvenile delinquency in Saudi society, and examine the nature of the relationship between certain variables and juvenile delinquency in Saudi society. The study also attempted to develop a proposed vision to reduce juvenile delinquency in Saudi society in light of societal changes. The results concluded that the factors leading to juvenile delinquency were moderate. The study also demonstrated no relationship between the variables (age, educational level, monthly income, father's educational level, level of education, wealth, and social status) and recidivism (previous admission to an observation center).
