A proposed vision to activate the role of the social worker in achieving social support for amputee groups

The current study aimed to identify the roles played by the social worker in achieving social support for amputees, and to identify the practices used by the social worker to achieve social support for amputees, the obstacles facing the social worker in achieving social support for amputees, and the most important proposals to address the obstacles facing the social worker in achieving social support for amputees. The current study belongs to the descriptive analytical studies style and relied on the comprehensive social survey approach for all social workers working in the amputation rehabilitation clinic at Assiut University Hospital and Al-Eman General Hospital, and the social workers working in the social rehabilitation office at the centers (Al-Badari - Sahel Selim), numbering (10) individuals, as well as the comprehensive social survey of amputees who visit these institutions, numbering (63) individuals. The study was implemented in the period from (June 2025 to August 2025). The study results demonstrated an average level of social support for amputees, ranked in descending order as follows: emotional support, cognitive support, and finally performance support. The study recommended the need to provide ongoing training programs for social workers working with amputees to enhance their competence in addressing the psychological and social aspects of the problem. This would contribute to achieving social support for this group and activating coordination between health and social institutions to achieve integrated service provision for amputees.
