A proposed program to protect youth from the dangers of online gambling from a cognitive behavioral therapy perspective

Abstract

The current study aims to develop a proposed program to protect youth from the risks of online gambling from a cognitive behavioral therapy perspective. This program aims to identify the risks of online gambling by measuring psychological, economic, social, and security risks. It also proposes ways to protect youth from the risks of online gambling from a cognitive behavioral therapy perspective, this study follows a descriptive study pattern and relies on a social sample survey approach. It was applied to a sample of 108 registered youth who frequent youth centers in Assiut Governorate. A questionnaire was used as a data collection tool, the study results demonstrated that the average risk of online gambling among youth, in terms of importance, was high overall, with an arithmetic mean of 2.75 and a standard deviation of 0.53. The most important of these risks was economic risk, with an arithmetic mean of 2.76 and a standard deviation of 0.52, while the least important was security risk, with an arithmetic mean of 2.74 and a standard deviation of 0.54. The study concluded with the development of a program to protect young people from the dangers of online gambling from the perspective of cognitive behavioral therapy in the social case work.
