The current study aimed to predicting phobic anxiety by identifying negative cognitive schemas among a sample of university students. The study sample consisted of 315 male and female students from Helwan University (143 males -172 females) their ages ranged between 19- 22 years, with a mean age of 20.57 years and a standard deviation of ±0.73 years. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the Young Arabization of Muhammad Abd al-Rahman and Muhammad Saafan’s Unadaptive Cognitive Schemes Scale (2014), and the Phobia Anxiety Scale, which is a scale chosen from Abd al-Raqib al-Buhairi’s modified symptom checklist (2005).(Inability to self- control, abandonment/ instability) can predict male phobic anxiety from university students, while female phobic anxiety can be predicted from schema (illusion of harm, emotional deprivation, self- destruction, entitlement).
