Abstract

The family is considered one of the most important social systems in society. It is also the basic pillar on which the process of socialization is based. It works to satisfy the psychological and social needs of its members and achieves psychological and social security for its members. This unity is formed through the beginning of the actual marital life between the spouses.
What we notice from the reality of our current society is that many marriages are exposed to divorce. Therefore, those about to get married must be prepared and qualified before marriage in a way that helps in the process of choosing a husband, and training to confront the difficulties they encounter in marriage, which improves their positivity. This study aims to verify the effectiveness of the program. Marital therapy to alleviate the severity of emotional divorce between spouses, guide spouses to their role in marriage, learn about the multiple tasks and responsibilities, and introduce them to their rights and duties in marriage, And to give them the values ​​of love, empathy, and cooperation, which are the values ​​necessary for marital harmony and stability. Therefore, the researcher aimed for this study to verify the effectiveness of marriage therapy in alleviating the severity of emotional divorce between spouses. The study sample consists of (30) husbands and wives who were chosen from those who regularly visit the family court. For those who meet the conditions of the study sample, the emotional divorce scale prepared by the researcher was applied to the sample. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the average score ranks of the experimental group in the pre- and post-measurements of the (emotional divorce) scale.
