Abstract

The issue of the environment and its protection and preservation from various types of pollution is considered one of the most important dimensions and elements of sustainable development, and is also considered one of the most important challenges facing developing countries. Hence, the current study aimed to determine the reality of the culture of environmental sustainability in new urban communities, determine the dimensions of social responsibility (understanding and awareness, interest, cooperative work, and participation) and enhance the culture of environmental sustainability in new urban communities, determine the obstacles to social responsibility and enhance the culture of environmental sustainability in new urban communities, determine proposals for social responsibility and enhance the culture of environmental sustainability in new urban communities, and reach a planning vision to activate social responsibility and enhance the culture of environmental sustainability in new urban communities. This study belongs to the descriptive studies pattern using the social survey method with a comprehensive survey applied to 94 individuals from officials in the New Assiut City Authority and members of the Board of Trustees of the New Assiut City. The most important findings are that the level of the reality of the culture of environmental sustainability in new urban communities was high, as well as the level of the dimensions of social responsibility (understanding and awareness, interest, cooperative work, and participation) and enhance the culture of environmental sustainability in new urban communities.
